OPDU Report 28 – You’ve Got The Power

Trustees have considerable power when it comes to running their pension scheme. They have powerto set investment strategies and funding policies.

Collectively they have more power now than they ever had. Yet many trustees may feel the weight of this power too much for them. Many may be tempted to abdicate their power and take a back seat, leaving their advisors to effectively exercise power on their behalf.

Other trustees may be unaware of their powers perhaps because they are railroaded by their consultants’ process and either are unaware of their powers or feel unable to resist or arrest the position.
